Sometimes it stems from a building, a coyote following me around, or an old country song.
I will start working on the blade profile which I’ll design using CAD. I'll print and shape prototypes from wood or aluminum to get a good feel and size of the knife.
Once I’m happy with the design I will send it out to get laser cut to my specifications. After receiving the blanks I will hand grind, stamp and heat treat each blade. Depending on the design and available materials I’ll profile and texture the handle materials and finish the blade.
Finally after the blade is put together I’ll create a sheath and final sharpen.
